Agency By Design Oakland Fellowship (2017-18)
Agency by Design Oakland is a values-forward organization with social justice leading the way. In creating a space where teachers can gather, collaborate, and embark on teacher inquiry, Agency by Design Oakland strives to create a community where Oakland teachers both find empowerment and the tools to empower their students.

I participated as a research fellow in 2017-18. My participation was an opportunity to research and analyze social and cultural capital from the perspective of my students. I wanted to ensure that our curriculum and responsive teaching practices considered student feedback into the design of consecutive learning experiences.  This led me to focus my Agency by Design work in redirecting authority and encouraging co-inspiration.  You can learn more about the project here and here
